Your Personal Guide to Accessible Japan
Our team is passionate about helping you explore various locations of Japan. We focus on creating accessible and personalized experiences that suit your needs. Let’s start planning your next journey together.
We are a member of Japan Universal Tourism Network
As a member of the Japan Universal Tourism Network (JUTN), a nationwide community of tour agents, healthcare professionals, and tourism associations, we provide safe, secure, and essential accessible tourism support. Our mission is to help people with disabilities and their families enjoy travel together without unnecessary expense, whenever and wherever they need it. We actively support and collaborate with all members of our network to achieve this goal.
Our Founding Vision
Ohayo Travel is a travel agency for people who need a little extra help to travel—whether because of age, illness, or disability.
The idea for this company was born out of a deep regret. My 97-year-old grandfather, who was bedridden, once told me his final wish was to see Mt. Fuji. I told myself it was too difficult and never even tried to make it happen. I’ve carried that regret with me ever since.
Later, I heard my mentor say something that really stuck with me: “It’s our responsibility as able-bodied people to support those who need help.” This, combined with the guilt I felt about my grandfather, was the push I needed. At 51, I left my long-time career and started Ohayo Travel.
To anyone who has given up on traveling, thinking, “It’s just not possible for me anymore,” I want to say: “Yes, it is possible.” We are here to handle every detail and remove every worry, from the moment you leave your front door until you return. We’ll find the right routes, accommodations, and facilities to make your travel dreams a reality.
Looking ahead, we’re not just a travel agency. We’re working with hotels, transportation companies, and other businesses to make all of Japan more accessible for everyone.
My hope is that anyone who loves Japan will get to experience its beauty and culture for themselves. It would be my honor to help you start your journey with a happy, excited “Ohayo!”

- Spot 1: Chuson-ji Temple, Hiraizumi
Step into history at Chuson-ji, a World Heritage temple built by the powerful Fujiwara clan in 12th Century. The golden Konjiki-do Hall is Japan’s first National Treasure—literally shimmering with gold! There’s a slope to reach it, but wheelchairs (including one electric) are available for visitors. - Spot 2: Kakunodate Samurai Street
Known as “Little Kyoto of the North,” Kakunodate charms with its black wooden fences and samurai houses. Don’t miss the Cherry Bark Work Museum to see kaba-zaiku, a traditional craft unique to the area. The street has several wheelchair-accessible toilets, so it’s easy to explore. - Spot 3: Hachimantai Aspite Line

Ride up Mt. Hakkoda in Aomori for a panoramic view of colorful forests filled with beech, birch, and maple trees. Both ropeway stations have elevators and accessible toilets, and wheelchairs are available for rent. - Spot 5: Lake Towada
This round caldera lake is surrounded by mountains that explode in color during fall. It’s a peaceful spot to relax and take in nature. Wheelchair users can board the sightseeing boat with a little help from staff.

Hop on the ropeway and head to the top! The night view from Mt. Hakodate is one of Japan’s best—seriously, it sparkles. Plus, it’s wheelchair-friendly with accessible facilities. - Spot 2: Hakodate Town
Stroll through red brick warehouses, old churches, and convents with a Western twist. Hakodate’s been mixing cultures since 1859. Don’t miss Cape Tachimachi and the poetic monument by Akiko Yosano—it’s a peaceful little spot. - Spot 3: Lake Toya
This round volcanic lake with a tiny island in the middle is perfect for a chill cruise. The views? Straight out of a postcard. - Spot 4: Otaru Canal & Warehouses
Otaru’s canal is pure nostalgia, especially at sunset. Brick warehouses line the water, and the whole place glows. Accessibility is solid, so everyone can enjoy the stroll. - Spot 5: Sapporo City & Gourmet
