Accessibility
The “Houden” suite has been renovated to offer access to guests with limited mobility. The genkan (porch area) of this separate building has smaller steps with a hand rail for the elderly or those who can walk short distances.
Since the flooring is made of traditional reed tatami mats (which can be damaged by heavier power wheelchairs), a wheelchair with special padded wheels is available for guests who cannot walk. The room can then be accessed via a ramp.
The suite has two large tatami rooms with a table for wheelchair users, and a private Japanese garden.
The bedroom also has tatami mats, and twin beds. The beds are roughly the same height as the wheelchair and there is room to transfer on the outer sides of the beds.
A large hot spring bath is available in the suite. The bath is roughly and wheelchair height and has handrails as well as a stepping stool. An adjustable-height shower chair is available upon request.
The suite has two small toilets near the entrance and one large accessible toilet adjacent to the bedroom. The toilet has handrails on both sides (the near-side handle can be raised), an ostomate cleaning sink, and a washlet. The sink has room underneath for wheelchair users.
An accessible toilet is also available near the dining area.
