We at Accessible Japan try really, really, really, really, really hard to get you the most accurate information available.

However…

We are limited in staff and time, so, we cannot check everything out in person. We believe that it is best to get a lot of information out to people interested and, therefore, rely on other sources for some details.  This means we cannot guarantee some information.

Tourist Attractions

Accessible Japan is based in Tokyo, so, many of the listed tourist attractions in Tokyo are visited in person.  While we have visited places in Kyoto and other cities, most attractions that are located outside of Tokyo have information based on Japanese sources, including official websites for the attraction, and accessible travel blogs in Japanese.

Additionally, accessibility is generally improving in Japan, so things may have changed since we listed the information.  If that is the case, please let us know!

Hotels

Due to the cost of staying and checking hotels out in person, the majority of our hotel information comes from outside sources.

This most commonly takes the form of interacting with hotels by mail or fax. We ask them to fill out a basic accessibility survey and send us pictures.  This, by nature, requires a level of trust that the hotel can adequately assess its own accessibility. While our survey has been professionally translated by an outside company, everyone has a different interpretation of accessibility and terminology. This can be particularly true for people not specifically accustomed to the needs of people with disabilities.

In cases where the hotel does not respond to our survey request, but does have some information on their website about an accessible room, we will add this information but note the source as “hotel homepage”. The photographs on such pages are from the hotel’s website, which holds the respective copyright.

Please be sure to contact hotels directly to ensure your needs can be met.

In Closing

While we try our utmost to get the best information available out to our readers, we cannot give any 100% guarantees.  We kindly ask that you discuss your needs directly with your hotel to make sure there are no misunderstandings.

We also ask that if you have any additional information or pictures, or have found something that is incorrect, please let us know so that we can improve our resources and help others.
