    Good Day!

I’ve been watching as many videos in can about Japan. I have come across many great videos. One thing I hear in a lot of then is, “Having a Sponsor”.

I watched a video from “Life where I’m from”(great videos), called. “Why Foreigners have a hard time renting in Japan”. I’m Thinking it mean, having a work place vouch for you. Can People who live there sponsor you?

    Hi Thomas,

Unfortunately, yes you do need a guarantor to rent an apartment here.  It can be a friend, but because it is a big responsibility, it will likely need to be a good friend!  There are also guarantor companies that can help as well.  There is an excellent article here on the subject: https://blog.gaijinpot.com/what-is-a-rental-guarantor/
